Hezekiah

Hezekiah, the Immortal Lord, leads the Necromancers and the millions of undead they have raised to conquer the land. He cannot die, and across the long war, every warrior has wrestled with the same question: “How do you kill an immortal?”

The Mark

Hezekiah offers people a bargain: accept his Mark and live a little longer. But the Marked carry a cursed power, and when they die, they rise again as ghouls in his undead army.

His forces have overrun city after city. Among them was the city where Gideon grew up. The City where most of the story takes place stays out of the war, and outlaws the Marked Ones.

In the Prologue

Two decades into the war, Gideon leads the Paladins to the door of Hezekiah's throne room, with a plan that rests entirely on the Monk, the only one who may be able to defeat an immortal. But the Witch, who once made Sir Devon's entire Paladin army disappear inside Hezekiah's fortress, seems to have returned from the dead.
